The legal process to save Bowles Lodge is over but the spirit of Bowles Lodge lives on!

My photo
This blog is about a campaign I led to prevent Lancashire County Council closing the care home my Mum lived in. We lost our case in the High Court but decision-makers at local and national level were made aware of the devastating consequences of moving elderly people - no matter how carefully it is done. Mum was moved and, sadly, died eight months later. The blog is dedicated to her precious memory. Love you Mum.

MPs debate care for the elderly in Kent

I attended this 30 minute Westminster Hall debate at 1pm today in the Palace of Westminster. It was secured by an MP for one of the other homes facing closure and was, in my view, a complete waste of time. John Burstow, the Lib Dem Health Minister responded for the Coalation Government in a totally predictable way saying "this is a matter for Kent County Council to decide not central government". If you want to see the whole debate which was poorly attended click here .

Charlie Elphicke, MP for Dover, has won a Westminster Hall (in Palace of Westminster) Debate on Care for the Elderly In Kent at 13.00 -13.30 this coming Tuesday, 8th February 2011.

Please pass this on to people you know who have an active and on-going interest in challenging and defending the decisions recently made by Graham Gibbens.

So far as Bowles Lodge is concerned we are preparing to submit papers to seek a Judicial Review.

Our campaign Continues

Despite the move (see Independent article below) to stop our lawyer, Yvonne Hossack, from pursuing legal action against local authorities about elderly people's home closures we ARE CONTINUING COME WHAT MAY! My mum is her client and Yvonne will not abandon her. Kent County Council's legal department can not rest easy!
